Nov. 24th, 2003 07:59 pmI am in my Christmas mood already. I found a job so I bought tickets to go to Belarus over Cristmas and I have started buying presents to my family and friends.
So, the job. It's in Newcastle University, Joe and I will be working at the same University again (if *he is still in Newcastle). It's a 3 year contract and my future boss told me that he wants the person who takes over the job to stay for 3 years. Well, now I need to find a job for Vadim in Newcastle or Edinburgh. The salary will be a bit smaller than in Aberdeen, because my present contract is rather generous but it is more secure in terms of the time. And Vadim is now talking about having his viva in April.
I was lucky to apply to this grant. This is somebody who used to work in Edinburgh while I was doing my PhD.
He personally knows my thesis supervisor, Noreen and he met Ian, my present boss. I was the only one invited for the interview and they really made an effort to lure me to Nc: "...although we are located so far North...". Tell me about North!

Everybody is complaining about jobs but I don't know anybody who wanted to have a job and didn't find one. Although one of my Edinburgh time Russian frends was forced in the end to quit science and go into a company, which was located in Cambrigde. "Was" because he shoul've started on st of July this year and it'd been announced that the Cambrigde division will be closed on 30th June. He and his family are relocating to Boston.
