Re: second generation - imho it is a very dangerous generalisation. Disillusionment and disenfranchisement is a feature of the modern society. I would rather say that the radical organisations provide a respite for those affected. The only difference is that the radical islamists currently are more active than others in the UK. In other societies it could be white supremacists or communists.
