Bizarre on the borderline with ridiculous. As if she is trying to write in Italo Calvino style, unsuccessfully. Everything "magic" bits are too patchy to carry the narrative, "realistic" are not believable by association. "Oranges are not the only fruit" but I prefer them to these cherries any day.
